Most of the events on our programme are open to prospective members, and you will be made very welcome. We would encourage you to come along to several different events before you apply to join Horizons. You will be then sure to meet some of our committee, who will be pleased to tell you more about the club. There are just a very few events which are for members only, and these are clearly marked.
HOW DO I APPLY TO JOIN HORIZONS?
We would ask you to go along to a few of our events. If you are interested in joining Horizons, just fill in the application form which we will send you with our programme.
WILL I HAVE TO HELP WITH ORGANISING EVENTS?
We hope that you will! When you feel ready, just contact the programme planners, listed in the programme booklet, and they will welcome any ideas and contributions that you can offer.
WILL I BE EXPECTED PLAN PROGRAMMES?
Not at first - when you have been a member for a few months, (depending on how often you come along to events), you will probably be contacted by a member of the committee to see if you are interested in programme planning.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN PROGRAMME PLANNING?
You will be teamed up with other members who have planned programmes before, and they will help you. Most people find that planning a programme is a good way to get to know people, and get more involved in the club.
WHAT IS “HORIZONS PLUS”?
Horizons Plus comprises several Special Interest Groups, most of which meet regularly. Their events do appear occasionally on the programme as a reminder but the general intention is to be able to arrange events at fairly short notice - especially useful for the Theatre Group. Just contact the group organiser (listed in the programme), to find out details.
