There’s more to Horizons than just our bi-monthly programme of events. Special interest groups arrange other events, which appear on the main programme only occasionally.
Any member or prospective member of Horizons is very welcome to come along to any of these groups – all that is needed is a quick phone call to the organiser to find out the details. All organisers & phone numbers are listed in our regular programme of events.
Here’s a list of our current Horizons Plus activities:
THE BRIDGE CIRCLE Chatty, friendly bridge on Wednesday evenings, in members' homes.
JAZZ We have a network of jazz enthusiasts who arrange last minute events.
MAH JONG Every 3-4 weeks, on Tuesday evenings in a member's home. Help is available for people who haven't played before.
SCRABBLE The Scrabble group meets in a member's home every 3-4 weeks, usually on a Tuesday evening. There is also a group which meets occasionally in the daytime (part of the Daytime Group shown below).
THEATRE GROUP The Theatre Group arranges visits to theatre, ballet, opera, and much more. We hold regular coffee evenings, which appear on the programme, at which our future visits are arranged.
DAYTIME EVENTS Daytime events are often arranged on weekdays, sometimes included in the programme, but some also arranged at the last minute. Events that are arranged include lunchtime meals, walks, and theatre matinees. We also arrange visits to places of interest - avoid the weekend crowds!
RUMMIKUB The Daytime Group play Rummikub every month - it's easy to learn, and great fun to play.
THE QUIZ TEAM We now have a quiz team, who won at their very first outing!
